This is an exciting walking-inspired programme which sprung into action in May 2014. It aims to encourage people to make local journeys on foot and help make Norwich’s streets safe, enjoyable and attractive places to be.
This fantastic new project encompassing several different elements, specifically tailored for people who both live and work in Norwich.
The four main strands of the project include:
- Beat the Street – help Norwich walk round the world! We’re turning Sprowston, Heartsease and Thorpe St Andrew into a giant community game to get people walking to win points and prizes for their teams. Get a game card and get involved www.norwich.beatthestreet.me
- City Walking Champions – could you champion walking in your neighbourhood, workplace or school? We’re recruiting champions to play an important role in getting communities walking and to help keep Norwich’s streets safe and enjoyable places to be.
- City Health Walks – friendly groups walking friendly distances (many under one mile) inviting you to sample some of Norwich’s most beautiful parks and public spaces.
- Walk to school week – a great way to get your weekly activity levels up. We’ve got some great incentives for schools which want to get walking.
