A Stalham GP has been elected as Chair of the new NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The new CCG will launch on 1 April following the merger of Norfolk and Waveney’s five NHS clinical commissioning organisations.
Dr Anoop Dhesi, a GP in Stalham in North Norfolk, has been elected as Chair of the new CCG following a vote by member practices, which took place last week. Dr Dhesi has been Chair of NHS North Norfolk CCG since 2013 and has held various clinical leadership roles over the last 20 years.
He said: “I am very grateful to the GP practices in Norfolk and Waveney for placing their trust in me and electing me as Chair of our new CCG.
“I am determined that the strength and identity of our five localities in Norfolk and Waveney are maintained. It is equally vital that as one, united CCG we build upon the foundations we have made since 2013, and bring about further improvements to NHS services for the people who live in our community.”
The CCG’s Chief Officer Melanie Craig said: “Our congratulations go to Anoop on his election. He brings a sense of continuity, respected leadership and a very strong clinical focus to our new Governing Body.”
The new CCG’s inaugural Governing Body meeting will take place on 1 April at King’s Lynn Town Hall. Members of the public and patients are welcome to attend, with further details to be circulated shortly.
